Bastidas... Fantastica Bastidas

Ok so a couple years back, I end up at some little whole in the wall spot in L.A. somewhere that was slightly bigger than my bedroom, I remember it was hotter than hell in this spot, because there were soo many people jammed into this tiny place.

At first I didn’t really wanna be there, as I had just left my EX the week before, but some acquaintances kept telling me to get out of the house and have some fun. Thank God I did because I discovered my favorite Bastidas in that place.

From the moment I first heard Bastidas tear up this shoebox place I was hooked. Never in my life had I heard such sounds. At the time everything was sounding stale to me, and I thought I had to meet this band that broke my glass shell and tell them they blew my mind. After they played their set I was introduced them and I probably gushed about how awesome they were. They were really down to earth people that were friendly to me, and from about that time on every chance I got I went out to see them (usually with a few drinks in hand).

I can say that I am a fan of Bastidas from that point on and always I’ve tried to get my hands on anything they release like their demo (which Henry the Vocal/Guitar later told me was rare to find) , and EP’s. Like their Fantastica Bastidas EP, which by the way is FUCKING BRILLIANT.

I remember I missed the release party, but I went to the next show afterwards and bought the EP from LEE the Drummer (who coincidently has his own radio show called the PINATA HOUR). They kicked ass that night at the Smell, before they did their set, we sat in my buddies car drinking Modelo Especial. But after the show my buddy and I listened to that EP like 4 times on our way back to Fullerton.

All these songs I wanted to create a video for and do some crazy things. I was beat to the punch on making a video for Hue, as a guy more talented and experienced than me named Vim Crony did the song justice. But that didn’t stop the ideas from flowing in my head. Henry, Lee, and Sonia you guys need to us more stuff soon

This week I really think this is something that I truly believe should listen to and PASS IT ON
